Privacy Policy
For the Morse Buddy application and this website · Last updated August 31, 2026
The short version. Morse Buddy does not collect, transmit or store any personal data. It has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no server to send anything to. Everything it does happens on your device.
This policy explains how Sparky1 LLC ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the Morse Buddy application for iPhone and this website.
What the app collects
Nothing. There is no account to create, no sign-in, no profile, no identifier assigned to you, and no telemetry. We do not use any third-party analytics or advertising software development kit. We receive no data from your use of the app, because there is nowhere for it to go — the app makes no network requests of its own.
Data that stays on your device
The app stores your settings — send speed, tone mode, brightness, reticle size and similar preferences — in its own storage on your iPhone. Messages you type to transmit are held in memory while you send them. None of this leaves your device, and all of it is removed when you delete the app.
Camera
Receiving by light requires the camera, so iOS will ask your permission. Video frames are analysed for brightness in real time and discarded immediately. Nothing is recorded, no image is written to storage, no photo library access is requested, and no frame is transmitted anywhere. If you decline camera permission, optical receiving is unavailable and the rest of the app still works.
Microphone
Receiving by tone requires the microphone, so iOS will ask your permission. Audio is analysed in real time for the presence of a specific frequency and then discarded. No recording is made, saved, or transmitted. There is no speech recognition of any kind. If you decline microphone permission, audio receiving is unavailable and the rest of the app still works.
You can review or revoke either permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security on your iPhone, or in the app's own entry in the iOS Settings app.
What the app does not do
- No location access, and no use of location data of any kind.
- No contacts, calendar, photo library or health data access.
- No advertising, no ad identifier, no tracking across apps or websites.
- No sale or sharing of personal information, because none is collected.
- No profiling and no automated decision-making.
Apple's role
If the app is distributed through TestFlight or the App Store, Apple collects information about downloads, crashes and — where you have opted in on your device — usage analytics. That collection is Apple's, governed by Apple's privacy policy, and we see only aggregated, anonymised reports. We cannot identify you from them. You control whether analytics are shared in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
If a paid unlock is offered in future, the purchase itself is processed by Apple. We never see your payment details.
This website
This is a static site with no forms, no accounts and no analytics. Our hosting provider (Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps) writes standard server logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested, user-agent — for security and operational purposes. The site loads a web font from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers and Google may log that request.
If you email us
We receive what you send: your email address and your message. We use it to reply and to keep a record of the correspondence, and for nothing else. Our email is hosted by Google Workspace. We do not add you to a mailing list without your asking.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we knowingly collect no information from anyone. The safety notice about the strobe applies to children particularly, and is worth reading before handing a phone to one — see the safety page.
Your rights
Privacy laws in Washington State, other U.S. states, the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area give you rights to access, correct and delete personal information held about you. In practice we hold none from your use of the app. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it. We will not treat you differently for asking.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. If a future version of the app ever collects data — which is not planned — this policy will say so clearly before that version ships, and iOS will ask your permission regardless.
